WEEK 6: Mauri! Last email in America! Leave MTC Monday
Mauri! "Mewdy"(thats what it sounds like). whats up? how is everyone from home? I heard that school started hahaha. That stinks. So this is my last email from America! The next time you will hear from me, I will be sweating like crazy and emailing/writing through hopefully something in English. The language is coming along, but when I get out in the real world I'm probably not going to know the language that I was taught here at the MTC.
Our teachers keep teaching us how to survive in Kiribati. This mission is definitely not going to be an easy mission physically they say. It's rough out there, but they say it's literally the best place you can be ever. Seeing the pictures that they send us confirm that.
They also tell us that every island has something special about them. For example, one is known for like singing the language, like that's how they talk. One is known for speaking really fast. One is known for dancing(like a robot). One has black magic voodoo. One they point out flaws. One is known for haviing flies. One is know for having frogs.
Some weird things about the culture is that we always sit on the floor with our shoes off when we teach. Even here at the MTC, because it's part of the culture. And we sit criss cross apple sauce. And, if you point your toes at them it's highly disrespectful. Also, if you should put the bottom of your feet towards them it's also disrespectful. Also whistling is very bad.
There is a new video on you tube that's called Island Missionaries, by Danien Berends. It's 3:35 minutes long. It was filmed on Kiribati!!! It's absolutely beautiful and amazing, especially the culture. GO WATCH IT NOW. its awesome!
Also some missionaries go like 6 weeks without emailing sometime on the outer islands, so if you don't hear from me.. don't worry I'm not dead, just probably out there being a baller.
There is this one elder, Elder Pratt, we stand up at random times(doesn't matter where we are) and just dance as hard as we can, then just sit down like nothing happened, it's hilarious!
That elder that had mono, and feeling just fine now, cut my hair last night in the dorms bathroom. He cut his own hair the night b4 for the first time and said he was pro, so I let him cut mine, just bc y not!
Today we are playing in door volleyball and its super fun.

I'm excited to see Jaxson. We were in a meeting with a bunch of people and then they called my name to give me the security slip to see Jaxon on Saturday and I was asleep in my chair and it was really funny because everyone was looking at me and started clapping, then I stood up and waved like I was a celebrity and walked up and got my slip.

Thank you for all the packages that everyone has sent me! They are the best! You are all the best and I miss home a ton, but I'm getting ready to go put in the work (muscle emoji). Love you all, and stay cool.
