Elder Carson Bowen Kiribati Islands in Marshall Majuro Mission

Kam na bene ni Mauri!  hey hey! This week has been lots of hard work. I'm working with my temporary comp until I go to the outer island Nukunau for about 1 more week ish I think.. I am very excited!  My comp right now is this big Samoan dude that really isn't on top of things and has been out for a year, or really teaching me anything.. but it's good because it forced me to be the organized one and on top of things.. it's just not good because my language isn't really improving.. but when I go to the outer island Nikunau it's gonna be awesome. My comp there is this super cool black guy from papa New Guinea and I guess is super good at the language and works hard. I am probably going to be out there for at least like 4 months.. so I'll probably get fluent pretty quick. Also in Nikunau they speak so awesome. Their tone of voice is like super wavey/shakey/ and they kinda sing the language. Where I'm working right now(Betio) which is the bottom of Tarawa and

Elder Bowen had very little time to write this week so I am sharing his short email he sent to me (mom): Sweet! Right now I am in Betio on the island of Tarawa. A new intake just came in, so I don't have my trainer anymore. Last week they announced transfers and I'm getting transferred to Nikunau which is on the other side of the equator.  It's a hecka outer island within the Kiribati Islands. The island is awesome Elders say and it's one of the islands everyone wants to go to.. the way natives talk on the island is they swing their tone of their voice. It's hard to explain, but it's like they sing when they talk. It's like their accent. It sounds like really funny. SO I'm probably going to get the accent. My backup trainer is already out there, I understand he is this hecka black guy from Papua, New Guinea but he's super cool. I'm excited to have a cool comp! Mauri Mauri!! whats up?? This week was awesome because we got 13 new investigators, so now there is 35 in our teaching pool. That's a ton to keep track of, but it's good because I'm learning how to be super organized. I have learned everyones names. Some of the names are crazy long but it's cool because I got this. Anyways, I just found out that I am going to get transfered. idk where yet, but some of the elders think I'm going ibouk( to an outer island). Thats where the super crazy stuff happens. I'm pumped. Earlier today we went to go check out some of the huge cannons that are here. It was super cool. They are massive. We were suppose to go and kill that pig for food  I told you about last week, but when we got there it was already dead which kinda stinks. But there will be many more opportunities for me to feel like bear grills and kill animals to eat and survive. This week I ate more turtle. Turtle tastes like chicken but a little bit more chewy.. p
