WEEK 10 BAPTISM-Island Volleyball Pday-Rat bite!

Kam na bene ni Mauri!!! Another week went by! I'm doing good! The beka nako has finally come to an end. I think my body has adjusted to the water and the food which is good. Awesome week! Here is some of the stuff that happened or that I found weird/cool/exciting:

1) In our teaching pool we have around 42 investigators. 42 is a ton and it is very hard to remember all their names and where their hut is. I'm still trying to learn how to effectively use my planner and get very organized so that I can keep track of everything. On top of this, I have a whole new language I'm still trying to learn.. its been rough, but its fun, because whenever I mess up the people laugh at me and I just laugh with them. Anyways, we had our first baptism with an investigator named Linda. She is awesome and has a big young family!

2)Every night we sleep on kie (mats) on the floor. During the middle of the night, the rats all come out and will nibble on your fingers and toes.. Its soooo annoying. The other night this one rat thought my finger was like a piece of cheese and bit it so now I have a cut in my finger from a rat. Hey mom I got that rabies shot right? I think I did so I'll probably be good.. I put neosporine on it right after because I thought I was going to die because of rabies.. but I'll be good.

3) To say "yes" people just raise their eye bows really quickly, or they just say " Eng" which means yes as well. But its funny because if you ask people a yea or no answer and the answer is yes they will just raise their eyebrows..

4) In lessons there is sooo much going on. We sit in huts and teach while chickens and dogs fight,  pigs screaming as loud as they can, and kids getting "punished", and roosters crowing. It's just soo much going on at once.. The pigs are super funny because they get itchy and will itch themselves on trees and stuff which is hilarious.

5) For service we clean out wells a lot. The other day Elder Holbrook, my trainer, was in one and a spider bigger that my hand crawled on his back. Then another elder said, "oh no" because he saw it. Holbrook  looked back and saw the spider and screamed like a little girl and climbed out of the well soo fast and scraped his knee on the way up. It was the funniest thing ever.

6) It's soo freakin hot and humid here. You sweat sooo much and are just dirty all the time. Then, you go to an investigators house and hey will give you "moi" a drink. And 90% of the time the drink is super hot because they just boiled it, because the water is bad. So there is like no way to escape the heat.. but it's ok because my body is adjusting and can handle it.

7) Since they live in huts here they don't have easy running electricity. So most people have solar panels on top of the huts that are connected to car batteries.
