WEEK 93 Mother's Day Skype 2019

Mother's Day Skype!!! 5-12-19

After almost an hour of trying to connect, we saw Elder Carson Bowen! Our connection was not good, often no sound or unable to make clear verbiage of what was being said but loved every minute of it!!!

Review:

-Elder Bowen is currently on the big island serving in the lower area with his companion Elder Wright who is from Utah and cool!

-Because Elder Bowen learned to drive stick shift before leaving on his mission, he has is the main Elder to drive everyone everywhere on the island.  Road are different there then in America so driving on the opposite side of the road is the way.

-"I miss fruit" , no fruit here except mini bananas, papaya, coconuts, and vomit fruit (it heals people!ha!) There are two-three stores on the island and they have apples shipped in.

(As Carson is speaking, his siblings go and grab his favorites such as Oatmeal pies, sour strips, bananas, cinnamon rolls, cheese-its, almond milk and openly show off their eating pleasures!)

-Different work being zone leader.  Personal Baptismal goals to reach!  In a great branch right now.  10 minutes from Moroni High School.

-Last Saturday a church Mother's Day party was held where all the older and younger ladies danced.  The culture has one stand and gets perfume and baby powder sprayed on them as they dance.

-Got bit by something that swelled up hand huge!  Next day worse so went to nurse who gave him an allergy pill and ice, it worked!

-Asked:  what is the first thing you plan to eat when you return...."ANYTHING"!

-Had a crazy haircut recently, gave him race tracks on the side of his head. oops!

-Doing baptismal interviews and speaking to a lady who had NEVER BEEN TO CHURCH!  Spirit spoke this to him very strongly.  Not ready for baptism but certainly invited her to church the following Sunday! The spirits steps in often here.

-He has three shirts left to finish mission, they are worn very thin and one with holes.

-Working out every day.  Favorite Food is RAW FISH.  Eats lots of shark and loves sea turtle.  On P days we play rugby, basketball, and volleyball.

-Been to 3 islands now and will stay my remaining mission here probably.  Fastest mission ever looking back on it.

-Connection fair and at one point we were texting him on our phones so he could read and respond.

-Transferred and served in 7 areas so far: Betio, Vikunon, Teaorareke, Abemama, Eita, Bikenibeu, and Temaileu.  Wants to return one day.

-English is a bit challenging, and the language of Kitibus is very fluent.  He states, "I get so busy I forget to eat!"  That says so much how focused he is serving the Lord.  (Carson loves to eat!)

Less than two months left on mission returning July 11, 2019 and will speak in Mountain View Ward July 14, 2019 at 12:00 noon.
